Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are mocking their Chelsea counterparts, after reports suggested the Gunners could swoop for one of their brightest talents.
The Sun says Arsenal are looking to take advantage in the breakdown of talks between Chelsea and Dominic Solanke by swooping for the England U21 international striker this summer.
18-year-old forward Solanke, who has spent the season on-loan at Vitesse Arnheim, is demanding £50k-a-week from Chelsea and assurances of first-team football, as the talented striker has played just 17 minutes of senior football for the Blues.
If Chelsea don’t accept those wishes then Solanke could move across the capital, as although Arsenal are not prepared to meet those staggering wage demands, they will offer more regular first-team football at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have a strong record of promoting talented young players to the senior squad, with Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi being the most recent examples, but with many fans crying out for a world-class centre-forward, moving for Solanke and guaranteeing regular opportunities could prove to be controversial.
Our landlord is also concerned about what a move for Solanke would mean to the striker’s Arsenal already possess, as he feels Chuba Akpom has earned himself a chance after impressing on-loan and he doesn’t want to see the forward become another Benik Afobe.
Arsenal fans, should you move for this talented striker this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
