Though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed their summer so far, they’re hoping for a busy last few weeks…
Thomas Lemar is the name on everybody’s lips at present, with the Frenchman clearly a key target for the Gunners. However, it has been reported in recent weeks that he is not for a sale, leaving those in the pub at a loss.
However, according to L’Equipe, that stance could be changing – with the publication reporting that there is hope for Arsenal yet. It is said that despite Arsenal’s latest offer for the midfielder falling short of Monaco’s demands, Monaco’s stance is beginning to change – with the publication reporting that a departure for Lemar has not been ‘excluded’.
The report is purposefully vague in that regard, but what it does suggest is that there is at least a chance that Arsenal could yet get their man, though the price tag will likely be inflated given how long this saga has been going on.
Still, with another bid of £44 million being rejected, the chances remain slim for the Gunners – but the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are holding out hope.
Lemar is clearly a player worth big money. He is a fantastic passer, goalscorer and dribbler – and his record of 9 goals and 10 assists last season reflects that.
At 21-years-old, the best is yet to come from the Frenchman, and whilst he is expensive now – his value is only going to go up next summer.
Still, Monaco are standing firm, and Wenger must decide whether he is worth that sort of financial outlay. If he is looking for a long-term solution, he would struggle to find better, but deciding to go all out for the midfielder is the easiest part of getting this deal done.
