Arsenal receive boost in managerial pursuit

The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would absolutely love having him at the Emirates…

The future of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been a regular topic in the Football Transfer Tavern for months, with fans speculating whether the French boss will renew his contract and stay at the club beyond this season.

The Arsenal faithful in attendance are split on the decision. Many feel that Wenger should continue – whilst a vocal section are members of the #WengerOut campaign and are demanding change.

This piece of news will no doubt please the more vocal set of Arsenal fans, as Arsenal could be one step closer to whom many in the Tavern tout as a ‘dream manager’.

According to AS, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has managed to successfully negotiate and reduce the length of his Atletico Madrid contract by two years, meaning his contract will expire in 2018 rather than 2020.

AS also add that the negotiations began following Simeone confirming his desire to leave the club in the future, and a renewal following the 2017/18 season now looks unlikely.

This news was met with huge cheers in the Football Transfer Tavern, with the Arsenal fans in attendance discussing whether a move for Simeone could actually happen.

The club have, of course, been linked with a move for the Argentine, with speculation ramping up towards the end of last season¬†–¬†but AS did not specify if the club had contacted Simeone with regards to a deal over the summer.

Nonetheless, with Wenger’s Arsenal career set to come to an end in the near future at least, Simeone is beginning to look like a very real potential replacement

Our landlord thinks Simeone would be perfect for the Premier League, adding that fire, physicality, and passion that is demanded in England.

Arsenal fans – Pleased with this? Would he be a good fit?
