The future of Mario Gotze has been discussed at length in the Football Transfer Tavern the last few days, but sources at Inside Futbol believe the young playmaker is set to stay at Borussia Dortmund for at least one more season.
Both Manchester City and Arsenal have found themselves linked with a move for the German international, who reportedly has a €40 million release clause in his Dortmund contract.
Arsenal were even said to be prepared to smash their club transfer record with a bid of over £30 million to bring him to the Emirates Stadium, although it now seems that won’t be happening this summer after Gotze’s agent said he expects his client to stay at Dortmund for at least one more season.
“Mario feels good at Borussia and he does not intend to consider proposals from other clubs”, he was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.
“He will still stay for another year, at least.”
The 20-year-old has enjoyed another exceptional season in the Bundesliga, and whilst Dortmund are set to miss out on a third consecutive title to Bayern Munich, they are safely through to the semi-finals of the Champions League where they are due to take on Jose Mourinho’s mighty Real Madrid.
