The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling rather optimistic…
It has been a good summer so far for Gunners, and whilst there is still uncertainty reigning over the future of Alexis Sanchez – the recent capture of Alexandre Lacazette has certainly made life a little easier for our Arsenal supporting punters.
In truth, this season has seen a change in tactic by Arsene Wenger – with the Frenchman clearly keen to spend big and improve his side.
That change doesn’t look likely to stop anytime soon, with the Mirror reporting that the Gunners are set to launch a 3rd move for Monaco ace Thomas Lemar, whom they are convinced wants to move to the Emirates this summer. It is expected that a move of over £45 million could be forthcoming.
This would represent yet another huge outlay for the Gunners, though you can’t deny that the attacker is worth the money. He was a star in the midfield for Monaco last season, becoming a vital part of their attacking arsenal during a title-winning campaign.
The Gunners aren’t short of attackers at present, but given the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Sanchez and the fact that the side finished so far off top spot last season – improvement is clearly needed. Thomas Lemar would certainly not be a bad player to add to the mix.
Our landlord is shocked by Arsenal’s seemingly desperate desire to spend big this summer, but he thinks it is exactly what the side needs.
