The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty happy at present…
It has been a good summer so far, and most supporters are feeling pretty optimistic about the season ahead.
That said, last season proved that the Gunners remain some way off of the leading pack in the Premier League in terms of quality, and they are going to need far more than the signing of Alexandre Lacazette to truly get back to the top of the table.
A few more signings are expected at the very least between now and the end of the summer, and according to the Evening Standard, the Gunners could look to muscle in on a Tottenham target. The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal are keen on Ross Barkley, and whilst they have yet to make their move, they are continuing to monitor him.
Of course, Barkley has struggled as of late whilst representing Everton, and whilst he was a regular under Ronald Koeman last season, he has yet to really hit the heights that were expected of him as a teenager.
Still, he has bags of quality, and the opportunity to play alongside players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could be just what he needs to realise his potential.
Whilst the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern wouldn’t expect him to be a regular starter at the Emirates, they think that with time, he could become a Premier League star.
