Arsenal fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping it will be third time lucky, after Dave Kidd of The Mirror stopped by to reveal they are set to try and sign Paul Pogba from Juventus once more.
The Gunners have previously gone after the former Manchester United midfielder on two previous occasions only to be knocked back, but now Wenger is ready to try his hand for a third time with a £70 million transfer budget behind him.
Pogba only left Manchester United last summer, and the 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine season in Turin, and has also been called up to the French senior national side.
But Arsenal have been put on alert to the fact Pogba is unsettled at the club after suffering racial abuse in a match against Torino last month, and having disciplinary problems which involved the midfielder getting sent off for a spitting incident.
Wenger has made a dynamic central midfielder his main priority, with Jack Wilshere struggling for fitness and Aaron Ramsey struggling for form for the majority of the last campaign.
Pogba is highly rated, and has been dubbed by many ‘the next Patrick Vieira.’ It seems he will not come cheap however, with Juventus demanding at least £15 million for the young midfielder.
