There’s a lot of groans, grumbles and cries of “Who?!” coming over from the Arsenal contingent in the Football Transfer Tavern.
At first, I wasn’t sure why but then I saw that Simon Jones, of the Daily Mail, had taken a pew.
According to Simon, Arsenal have revived their interest in Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano after seeing their quest for a new shot stopper stall (as well as every other transfer pursuit they’ve made this summer!)
The North London outfit have, so far, been unable to reach agreements with Valencia and Espanyol for Vicente Guaita and Kiko Casilla, respectively.
This news has definitely upset the Gooners, who have been in the tavern all summer waiting for Arsene Wenger to spend money but on a few high profile (and expensive) players.
Simon tells the Arsenal punters that Viviano is available after Palermo were relegated from Serie A, last season and as you can imagine the grumbling intensifies, the neat triple whisky orders increase and even a few bar stools get pushed over in disgust.
Seems like the remaining few days of the transfer window, for Arsenal fans, are going to be nerve racking but don’t worry guys – pop in to the tavern and share your transfer worries, thoughts and ideals.
Do Arsenal need a new first choice goalkeeper anyway after the fine performance from Wojciech Szczesny in midweek? Let us know your thoughts below.
