Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have gathered today wearing a variety of Christmas jumpers for their work do but, naturally, the discussion has quickly turned to transfers- and one report in particular.
Swiss international Xhaka has impressed in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, with Bayern Munich also interested, but Arsenal may move after suffering devastating injuries to crucial midfielders Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla recently.
With the duo sidelined until the back-end of Arsenal’s Premier League push, Xhaka could be drafted in and his versatility would be a crucial bonus. He can play as an out-and-out defensive midfielder, or as a deep-lying playmaker; making him a potential replacement for both Coquelin and Cazorla.
Arsenal are said to have scouted the former FC Basel midfielder this season and the punters scoffing down our lovely turkey have indicated they believe the 23-year-old would be a wonderful addition to Arsene Wenger’s side.
Gooners, is Xhaka the ideal addition to your midfield? Let us know in the comments below!
