Arsenal scouts sent to watch talented teenager – report

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that their team will be improved in January. The Gunners have had a disappointing start to the season, with their current 6th place standing not enough to appease our resident Arsenal fans. Clearly, then, Wenger needs to do something to improve their fortunes, and he could look to do that through a potential transfer.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are keen on Middlesbrough player Marcus Tavernier, who has emerged as one of the Championship’s brightest talents this season. At 18-years-old, he’s far from the finished article, but our landlord thinks that he may be the sort of surprise package that could help reinvigorate Arsenal’s season.

He’s featured pretty prominently in both league and cup competition this term, and he appears to be only getting better. Arsenal has been a hub of top young talent in recent years, and so it’s no real surprise that the Gunners are keen.

Whether a move happens remains to be seen, but with scouts reportedly sent to watch him in action, it’s clear that Wenger is interested.

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be keeping a keen eye on him over the next few weeks.

Landlord’s Verdict

A move for him does make sense, but is he really the sort of player that can turn Arsenal’s season around?

What they really need is a top, proven player that can make an immediate impact, much like Alexandre Lacazette has this term. It’s all well and good planning for the future, but if Wenger doesn’t sort it out, he may not be involved in that future.
