Arsenal see another bid for prime Premier League target rejected

ChilwellArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are working up a sweat this afternoon as they gather for the end of the working week, with speculation reporting that the Gunners are actively pursuing a new signing.

Football Insider state that a £4m bid from Arsenal for Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell has been rejected, with that move becoming the third offer from the Gunners to be turned down.

Arsenal are desperate to land the 19-year-old full-back, who is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Foxes, but Leicester are reluctant to let the highly-rated talent leave this month.

Chilwell’s contract expires in 2017 and Leicester are keen for him to sign a new deal, though Arsenal will be confident of landing the defender in the summer if he does not accept an offer; as he will have just 12 months left on his deal at that point.

The Gunners have just handed Nacho Monreal a new long-term deal but Chilwell can be considered the long-term replacement for the Spaniard, though that raises questions regarding the future of England international Kieran Gibbs.
