Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have stated they’re not confident of completing any business before Monday evening’s deadline, so they’re surprised to hear reports from the continent.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb state that Arsenal saw a bid for Napoli’s 24-year-old midfielder Jorginho was rejected yesterday, though a fee was not mentioned in the report.
Arsenal are currently locked in a tight battle for the Premier League title and have seen their midfield ranks depleted in recent months by injuries, although their numbers have been boosted by the signing of Mohamed Elneny and the imminent return of Francis Coquelin.
With the midfield trio of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky seeing their contracts expire in the summer, Arsenal are continuing to search for potential replacements- and it’s said they could revive interest in Jorginho at the end of the season.
Our landlord believes Arsenal need a new forward before Monday’s deadline to improve their attacking ranks as he’s concerned as to how the Gunners would perform should Olivier Giroud pick-up an injury and believes the signing of Jorginho is not a priority.
Arsenal fans, will you sign anyone else this month? Let us know in the comments below!
