Arsenal seeking lucrative agreement with very talented 29-year-old – report

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side will make a big push throughout the rest of the season. They’ve had a very mixed season so far, and whilst they’re still in the mix for a top-four finish, that is far from assured. The focus of the Arsenal faithful’s attention, then, has been firmly focused on who their side could bring in to improve their chances, but it appears as though the Arsenal brass’ focus is elsewhere.

According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger has not given up on securing the long-term future of Mesut Ozil, and the club are said to be ready to spend big to ensure that his future remains at the Emirates. An offer of around £275,000-per-week has reportedly been made, and whilst a breakthrough is yet to occur, there is a hope that something could yet be forged from this relationship.

It’s no real surprise that Arsenal have moved to tie down his future, given that this report has emerged after a strong few weeks for Ozil. He had a tough start to the season, but he’s finally turned a corner – and Arsenal are feeling the effects of that. Clearly, injury or fitness problems were causing him issues last term, and now that he’s past that, he’s quickly returning to his best form.

A sizeable investment in him, then, makes a lot of sense, particularly as they look to put off the risk of losing him on a free at the end of the season. His current contract expires in the summer, and it would be a massive failure from Arsenal to let one of Europe’s most talented players leave on a free.

It remains to be seen what will happen here, so the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be waiting with baited breath.

Landlord’s Verdict

Ozil is a fan favourite amongst the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern and it’s easy to see why. He creates magic out of nothing, and he’s proven that this season.

If he continues his fine form, this would be a great investment from the Gunners.
