Arsenal set to begin talks with 6ft 2 defensive midfielder, Gunners could secure bargain deal

Southampton v Arsenal - Barclays Premier LeagueThe Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been smashing their pint pots on the Tavern floor in frustration of late, due to their team’s stuttering form.

The Gunners’ silverware hopes all but evaporated following yesterday’s 2-0 reverse at home to Watford in the FA Cup and with success looking unlikely in both the Premier League and Champions League, it is looking like a trophy-less season for Arsene Wenger.

The landlord in the Tavern can’t help but feel some sympathy for the contingent of Arsenal supporters and he has some news for them, courtesy of TransferMarketWeb via Metro, that might pout a smile on their faces.

The newspaper are reporting that the Gunners are in talks with Gremio defensive midfielder Walace Souza Silva over a move to the summer.

The 20-year-old is likened as a player to ex-Arsenal man Gilberto Silva and the Gunners are hopeful of tying up a deal to bring the Brazilian to England, with the publication stating they could get the player for atleast £6.5 million.

One Arsenal fan is sat at the Tavern’s cocktail bar and thinks the signing might prove to be a decent one, conceding that the team is in desperate need of a strong defensive midfielder.

Arsenal fans, would you welcome Walace to the club? What do you know about the youngster?
