Arsenal set price to finalise deal for popular midfielder

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving life at the moment. After the woes of last season things are looking up in north London after the arrival of club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette, who bagged his first goal for the club in their pre-season opener this week.

However, one Gunners favourite who things aren’t looking quite as good for this summer is Jack Wilshere. The midfielder, who spent last season on loan with Bournemouth in a bid to kick-start his career once more, has always been a popular figure amongst the fans at The Emirates.

Despite his rapport with the Gooners, it is hard to see him making it into the side this summer and it seems the club think the same. According to reports from The Guardian, the FA Cup winners are on the verge of selling the England international to Italian side Sampdoria, and have set their price at £9m.

While it will be a sad day for the resident Gooners here at the Tavern if he leaves our landlord is looking to encourage them by pointing out that this deal could prove that manager Arsene Wenger has turned a corner and is willing to be a little more cold in the way he conducts his business than before.
