The Arsenal supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing lyrical of late about the form of goalkeeper Petr Cech, who has firmly established himself as the Gunners number one stopper since arrive from London rivals Chelsea in the summer.
One Gunner is sat flicking through the daily newspapers with a pint of lager and he spots an article in The Independent, that indicates that the competition to be the regular keeper could be set to hot up next season after Roma informed Arsenal that they do not wish to make Wojciech Szczesny’s loan permanent.
The Polish stopper has played 25 times for the Serie A club this season, but they have moved to agree terms on a deal to sign Internacional stopper Allison in the summer, which will deem Szczesny surplus to requirements.
Our knowledgeable landlord thinks the Polish keeper will still be sold, and thinks current back-up stopper David Ospina is a better option to provide cover for Cech.
