Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing some relieving news this evening, with reports they’re set to secure a huge deal.
The Daily Mirror says that Arsenal’s record £42m signing Mesut Ozil will be handed a new deal in reward for his exceptional performances so far this season.
Signed in August 2013, Ozil has become a huge-part of Arsenal’s success and has two FA Cup to his name from two seasons in North London- whilst he also enjoyed success with Germany at the 2014 World Cup.
This year though, Ozil’s performances have reached a new level with the German international tearing up the Premier League. He’s broken plenty of statistics in the process, becoming the first player to secure an assist in six consecutive league matches and the first to have ten assists in 11 appearances to start the season.
Arsenal are currently flying-high and entered the November international break level on points with Manchester City, ahead of some favourable fixtures that should raise confidence before a mammoth clash with the Citizens days before Christmas.
27-year-old Ozil looks set to follow in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla, with a deal that will secure his long-term future; signing down until 2019 at least.
