After a fairly long summer so far that has only seen Arsene Wenger bring in Petr Cech as a major signing, the Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting restless – they are desperate for a new striker!
Despite long term interest in Karim Benzema, that one doesn’t look like it is happening so the Gunners in the pub today are loving the news coming from the Metro, that they could be on the verge of signing Uruguayan International striker, Edinson Cavani – and have been told to pay £35m to lure him away from the French club.
Reports suggest that whilst a deal for Benzema is still something Emirates executives are working on, if this fails they would need to pay £35 million to sign Cavani is a like-for-like back up alternative.
Even though the centre-forward has been forced to play much of his PSG career outwide, as an understudy to Zlatan Ibrahimovich, he has still managed to net 34 goals in 64 appearances in Ligue 1 – very impressive figures compared to any of his potential Arsenal team mates!
What do you think Gunners? Would you like to see Cavani instead of Benzema? What about both? Let us know your thoughts below!
