Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have adjusted their sights to the transfer market in the past week but there’s a deal developing behind the scenes in north London which has grasped their attention this evening.
The Telegraph states Arsenal are ready to hand Jack Wilshere a contract extension, despite the England international starting just one game this season, on the final day against Aston Villa, following a ten-month injury lay-off.
Wilshere’s injury record since 2011 is a major concern to the supporters but Arsenal still see him as a huge part of their squad and, with two-years remaining on his deal, the Gunners want to get him tied down, with Manchester City holding long-term interest.
This summer will be crucial for the England prodigy as he travels to France for the European Championships and, with the departure of veteran Gunners trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, Wilshere will need to step-up to be a regular feature for Arsenal on a more regular basis.
Whilst many are questioning what Wilshere has done to deserve a new contract, our landlord is praising Arsenal for putting faith in the talented youngster and he believes they will reap the rewards.
