Arsenal supporters have received a boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain after Metro reported today that the club have submitted a £25.5 million bid to Real Madrid.
Sources in Spain suggest that Arsene Wenger is ready to offer a one-off payment to beat off competition from Italian champions Juventus.
The Serie A side are understood to be eager to break up the transfer fee into five parts which is not as attractive for the Spanish side.
Real Madrid are set to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as manager in the coming weeks to replace new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and that could see Higuain departing the club with Ancelotti wanting to bring fresh faces to the club.
The Argentine international still has three years left on his contract and Madrid president Florentino Perez has today told interested parties that over £25.5 million will needed to secure his signature.
“With £25.5m it’s better that they don’t come,” he said.
“Let’s see if people ask us for £50m for everyone and we sell one of ours for half that.”
