But according to the Daily Express, it could happen soon as Arsenal are set to trigger a £10 million release clause in Loic Remy’s contract.
Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle United but will not be staying with the Geordies after revealing he wants Champions League football this evening.
His contract with West London outfit Queens Park Rangers allows him to leave for £10 million and Remy is reportedly very keen on a move to Arsenal.
Apparently Arsene Wenger is very keen on the player but has spoken to Marseille for a character reference for the player who has had off-field problems in the past.
A Marseille insider said: “Arsene rang our chairman. He seemed to be more interested in what kind of person Loic is. He didn’t give any trouble in the three years he was here.”
Newcastle now look set to move for Hertha Berlin forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga in a move worth up to £8 million.
Arsenal fans. In this day and age £10 million for a player of Remy’s ability is nothing. So this move is win-win, isn’t it? Let us know your thoughts below.
