Arsenal are impressing the Football Transfer Tavern staff this summer with their ambitious transfer targets but The Times claim that their hopes of signing Swansea City defender Ashley Williams are fading fast.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the Welsh international but he isn’t prepared to match the £10 million asking price that the Swans have set for him.
The South Wales club are making waves in the transfer market themselves with the imminent deal for the highly coveted Wilfried Bony of Vitesse Arnhem and so are not interested in letting their big players depart the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans will be in the Europa League this season and are now hoping to become an established Premier League club after their impressive 2012/13 campaign under Michael Laudrup.
Arsenal will have to either stump up the £10 million or move on to fresh targets for the rest of the summer in order to land a much needed centre half.
The 29-year-old is reportedly interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium but will not force a deal through this summer.
