Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are shaking their heads at the latest claim coming from our favourite German publication Bild who seem to think that Iker Casillas is set for a massive payday.
The Real Madrid stopper knows there is no future for him at the Bernabeu after the impending signing of Levante’s Keylor Navas and now it seems Arsene Wenger is prepared to cheer him right up.
In a move that has many of our punters asking if the Gunners boss has lost his mind, Wenger reportedly wants to offer the 33-year-old a five-year deal that is worth £100,000 per week.
Now the majority of our punters think that given he would not pay £150,000 per week for Sami Khedira – a much younger player who is needed at the Emirates Stadium, quite why he will pay so much money to Casillas remains to be seen.
Our landlord takes a quick poll in the tavern to ask if we think the swoop for Casillas is a good move and the answer is a resounding no – especially after the unveiling of Colombian international number one David Ospina who arrived from Nice yesterday.
The Gunners also signed Southampton’s exciting young full back Calum Chambers today taking their summer incoming total to four.
Arsenal fans. Is this just typical Wenger behaviour all over again or is signing Casillas a masterstroke move? Let us know your thoughts below.
