Metro have a sensational claim for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today for us as they note that Liverpool are set to face a second bid from Arsenal for Luis Suarez.
Arsenal are currently the only club to have made a bid for the player and have put a first bid of £30 million on the table – which was rejected swiftly.
Now the Gunners are prepared to up that and make a second bid of £35 million to really show their intent regarding landing the player.
Whilst Suarez himself has noted that a move away from England would be his preferred route of choice, as we all know, this is football and stranger things have happened.
Arsenal are of course getting increasingly frustrated over the transfer of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain and have almost lost patience with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez – hence the Suarez bid.
Despite Kolo Toure telling Suarez that he does not have to leave Liverpool to win titles, the Uruguayan international is still set on leaving and it would be an almighty task for Brendan Rodgers to now convince the player to stay at Anfield.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have now made the forward his top priority this summer.
Will Arsenal rock the Premier League and secure the services of Luis Suarez this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
