Arsenal's season has been going along quite nicely this term under new manager Unai Emery, and they look well placed to make a good run at the top four at least.

Emery appears to have given his Gunners side plenty of confidence going into the season, and at the turn of the year, there is big hope that the Gunners can indeed get themselves back among the top four and secure a Champions League spot.

However, there is room in the squad for more players if the Gunners feel they need to make additions, and one man we at the Tavern think would be a shrewd signing is former Newcastle United winger Floriant Thauvin, who has been superb in recent seasons.

The £50m-rated French star has turned his career round from what was a nightmare spell at St James' Park, and he is now considered one of the best wide players in the game on his day.

Arsenal have plenty on the field in terms of attacking options, but barring Aubameyang, they don't really have the sort of electric pace and speed that a player like Thauvin has.

The Gunners have a rich history of bringing in French players to the club who go on to have brilliant careers with the club, and Thauvin might well relish the chance to come back to England and prove himself to those who remember his poor spell with Newcastle.

Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
