Arsenal should hijack Liverpool’s potential January move for ideal Coutinho replacement

The January transfer window could prove to be decisive in the race for the top-four this season, so the Arsenal supporters in the Transfer Tavern are praying that Wenger will make some vital additions to his squad.

The Arsenal fans propping up the bar were relieved to record a draw against Chelsea earlier this week after falling behind with less than ten minutes to play. However, the result has left them 5 points adrift of 4th placed Liverpool in the Premier League with a significantly inferior goal difference at this stage.

If Arsenal are to return to the Champions League this season, they will need to put together an excellent set of results during the second-half of the campaign and hope that at least one of the teams around them endures a slump at some stage.

Liverpool’s transfer fiasco with Philippe Coutinho could prove to be a hindrance to their performances on the pitch this season, especially if they fail to land a replacement for the Brazilian in the likely event that he departs the club this month.

Arsenal could heavily influence this aspect of Liverpool’s season, by hijacking their move for Real Madrid outcast Dani Ceballos, who has reportedly been lined up to replace Coutinho at Anfield.

According to reports via The Daily Express, Ceballos has told Los Blancos that he wishes to join Liverpool in a bid to acquire more first-team opportunities.

However, Arsenal should be rivalling the Reds for the highly-talented 21-year-old’s signature in January to bolster their own options in midfield.

Arsene Wenger has his own departures to worry about with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil presumably on their way out of the club, so he should rival Liverpool’s bid for Ceballos and secure a potential long-term replacement for Mesut Ozil.
