Arsenal go into the summer with at least some certainty behind them, with Arsene Wenger signing a new two-year deal to put to bed any rumours about his immediate future at the club.
In what should be a positive move for the club, it gives them some stability heading into what is set to be an important transfer window for the club, and the Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern are in decent spirits.
Our landlord has been spending some of his time over by the pool table this week having a good old chat with the Arsenal lot about the coming summer, and in particular, incoming transfers.
One are for strengthening at the Emirates is once again at centre half, and our landlord thinks that PSG and Brazilian defender Thiago Silva could be the ideal signing to plug the gap at the back.
Silva has bags of experience at the top level, and now in his 30’s, is at an age where he should be able to cope with the demands of the Premier League.
PSG are unlikely to let him go without a fight though, but he is viable option for the Gunners, and someone who would add something the club has been missing in defence for a number of years now.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
