Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set for a busy couple of transfer windows, with an exodus of players expected in the summer transfer window.
Our punters are resigned to losing both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and the experienced French boss will be on the lookout for replacements over the course of the next two windows. Fans here in The Transfer Tavern are extremely nervous about the pair’s departure, with the club set to lose their two best players on the exact same day in June. A disappointing blow that has left many solemnly staring into their pints deep into the night, our landlord attempted to cheer up the gloomy bunch from North London by suggesting suitable replacements to target. This perked fans up, with names banded around as the Gunners faithful searched for their new hero.
Our landlord couldn’t help but suggest the club look at Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux, with the potential capture of the 20-year-old set to benefit the Emirates side in several ways. Joining from Corinthians in 2016, Malcom has established himself as one of the most promising players in French football, with his seven goals and four assists this season bringing the player to the attention of Europe’s elite.
Interest has peaked in the player, with Manchester United and Tottenham reportedly monitoring his progress, and if Arsenal were to pip their fierce rivals to his signature, this would be deemed a serious statement of intent by Wenger. The Frenchman could send a message to his rivals that Arsenal remain a force to be reckoned with, as well as acquiring an extremely bright young talent.
Should Malcom – rated at £15.05m on Transfermarkt – join this month and excel then he could be in with a long-shot of making the plane that will take Brazil’s squad to the World Cup in Russia this summer, but even despite of this, the youngster will surely jump at the opportunity of a big money Premier League move. Arsenal can afford the player plenty of time to develop and grow into a top talent, and Malcom would thrive in North London.
Arsenal fans, is Malcom a player you would like to see at the Emirates? Let us know!
