Arsenal fans are being treated to a bit of good news here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Metro informs us that Tomas Rosicky has agreed to pen a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger was asked about the future of the Czech Republic international and noted that he has been rewarded for his form this season.
“Tomas Rosicky will stay. We have an agreement with him and it will come out soon,” said the Frenchman
“I am absolutely adamant he has to stay at the club.”
Wenger further elaborated and made it clear exactly why he wanted to keep the player at the club, praising his skills and ability on the ball. He noted: “He is maybe one of the players who plays the game of give and move, is a great accelerator of the game.
“When the ball comes to him it is “boof”. It is second gear now and that is something I admire in him.
“He makes always things happen, not with individual dribbling but with individual acceleration of his passing and of his runs.”
Rosicky is of course 33-years-old now, and this deal will probably be the last big one he signs. It is a good job the Gunners have tied him down because his contract was due to expire in the summer.
While Bacary Sagna still sweats over his Gunners future, how happy are you that Rosicky has committed to the Arsenal cause? Let us know your thoughts below.
