The Daily Mail has some good news for nervous Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, after they claimed that right back Bacary Sagna could well be close to agreeing a new deal with the club.
As our regulars note over their beer and a burger special, it had been thought that the defender was on his way out of the club, with manager Arsene Wenger casting his eye over some potential replacements.
Now however, it seems that the Frenchman has managed to convince the player that his future lies at the Emirates Stadium, and Sagna is close to agreeing that contract extension.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but Wenger claimed there would be some good news for fans in the ‘next two weeks’ concerning the futures of some of their star players at the club.
Talks have been ongoing between the club and player since last summer, who has appeared 255 times for the Gunners since his arrival from Auxerre and Wenger is clearly confident that the situation will be resolved soon.
Arsenal are not only looking to add a couple more players to their squad this January, but are also looking to tie up the futures of some more of their current stars.
