There is some good news for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today courtesy of Metro who claim that one of their top performers from last season could be set to stay with the club – for now.
French international defender Laurent Koscielny has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent months with a host of clubs interested in the player including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, yet now it seems he is set to stay with Arsene Wenger’s men and fight for a top four place once again next season.
The player himself claimed that: “I have a four-year contract. For now, I am still at Arsenal.
“The second leg of the Champions League against Bayern Munich was a trigger for us.
“In the process, we almost won everything. The most important thing is that Arsenal is in the Champions League.
“It is super exciting to play against the best teams in Europe.”
As one of our punters quips, it is no wonder the French international is staying with the club when it is so clear he shares the view of manager Arsene Wenger – with the top target simply competing in the Champions League!
Of course 27-year-old Koscielny has been persistently linked with a move to the Bundesliga and claiming he will stay at the club ‘for now’ does not exactly reassure our Gunners fans.
Is Koscielny good enough to play for Barcelona and Bayern Munich? Should he keep quiet and knuckle down? Let us know your thoughts below.
