Arsenal fans are seeing red here in the Football Transfer Tavern as our landlord tells them about the latest claim coming from the Daily Star.
The publication have reported quotes from former Gunner Samir Nasri – now of course at Manchester City – who has suggested that in order to win titles and trophies, you have to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Of course, this is not exactly untrue, with Arsene Wenger’s men going nearly a decade without a trophy now – a staggering amount of time for a club of their size.
Nasri meanwhile may be one up from Ashley Cole on the Christmas card list of the Emirates Stadium faithful, but he has won the Premier League in 2011/12 and the Capital One Cup this season since leaving Arsenal.
The Frenchman claimed: “I don’t want to be disrespectful, but I had a meeting with Arsene Wenger who told me to not be worried, he signed Gervinho and he will get reinforcements.
“I preferred to join City and I won titles and indeed I earn a better living. And why not a second national title in three years?
“I am very happy with my choice.”
Nasri also spoke about a potential contract extension at the Ethiad Stadium, and noted that he wanted to stay with the Citizens, telling Canal that: “We have just started talks so far. We didn’t find any agreement yet. But it should be sorted out.”
Arsenal fans. Should Nasri keep his mouth shut? Will the Gunners put an end to their drought by winning the FA Cup this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
