Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are crowding around the bar to hear the latest claim from the Daily Star.
The publication seem to think that Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna will be leaving the club this summer – but the Frenchman wants to stay in England.
As one of our punters points out over a rather well poured pint, Arsenal and their manager Arsene Wenger are desperate to convince the former Auxerre defender to stay.
The Gunners have offered what we deem to be a very decent deal but the defender wants more – and a signing-on fee to boot.
Given he will be out of contract, Sagna is an attractive prospect for a host of clubs both in the Premier League and abroad.
However, it seems that given the defender’s preference to remain in the country, Liverpool and Manchester City will be heading the race to secure his services. Chelsea are also thought to be keen on luring the player across London.
Liverpool are also keen on Manchester City’s Micah Richards – and a move for him may well mean that a move for Sagna is out of the question – but it would open the door for the Citizens who are on the hunt for a right back.
Do you think Sagna will snub Arsenal and move to one of their rivals like so many before him? Let us know your thoughts below.
