The Express report that Arsene Wenger has openly backed Lukas Podolski in an attempt to diminish rumours of him leaving North London in January.
The 29-year-old has been at the Emirates Stadium since 2012 after a £11 million move from Cologne but despite spending two years at the club, he hasn’t managed to tie down a regular place in the Gunners’ first team.
Subsequently, he has been linked with an exit multiple times this season and recently, Podolski has publicly voiced his frustration at his lack of first team football.
Podolski’s time at the club looked all but over when the club forked out big money to bring in Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck but Wenger insists the German still has a future at the club.
“It is quite simple, there is no transfer market at the moment. When there is no transfer market, you are all on board – or not on board. It is like that.
“This is a job where you can only be successful if you’re fully committed. You cannot be half in and half out, so all this transfer speculation is not considered at all.
“We are all on board to get results, and Podolski will be part of that,” added Arsene Wenger.
