Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating the outcome of the contract negotiations with the FA Cup final hero after the Daily Mirror revealed that Theo Walcott is seeking assurances of playing more games as the leading striker.
The England international, who has spent most of this season out injured, is discussing fresh contract talks with the Gunners as he currently only has a year left on his £90,000-a-week deal.
Now that the season is finally over, Walcott will now sit down and negotiate a new long-term deal.
The 26-year-old is determined to find a balance of playing more frequently as a striker as well as on the wing.
Although it is difficult for Arsene Wenger to promise him such a role because Olivier Giroud is his first choice striker at the moment after scoring 19 goals in all competitions this season.
