Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are bouncing after their FA Cup win over Chelsea and it’s clear that the Gunners faithful are brimming with confidence after the victory.
After a solid performance on the day, Arsenal brought home the title after a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley and it’s a performance that has seen some Gunners fans have a little more confidence in their side going forward.
But there’s still work to do over the summer and it’s clear that some areas of the pitch still need vast improvement despite the FA Cup win.
And one man that could be replaced is Per Mertesacker, despite a superb performance in the final which drew individual praise from manager Arsene Wenger.
And the German says he doesn’t take notice of personal criticism when he’s out on the pitch, especially after missing most of the season through injury.
“I expect myself to perform at that level every single week,” he told the Mirror.
“I don’t know if I’m capable but I’ve done it for 15 years. The more people that write me off, the stronger I get. That’s my feeling,” he added.
Despite a strong performance at Wembley, will we be seeing the German at the Emirates in years to come? It’s unlikely but it’s a performance that has done little to harm his reputation.
Gunners fans- what did you make of Per’s performance yesterday? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
