The Daily Mirror warns Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern that their young starlet Joel Campbell is ready to leave the Emirates Stadium after becoming inpatient regarding his lack of first team opportunities.
After successfully featuring at the World Cup, the Costa Rican was hoping he would be given his big chance at Arsenal to fulfil his potential.
Instead he has only been awarded one start so far this season – in the Capital One Cup while featuring three times as a sub.
The 22-year-old is getting fed up and the final straw may be the fact he was dropped out of the first team squad to face Anderlecht this week with Gunners flop Yaya Sanogo taking his place on the Gunners’ bench.
To add to his frustration, Arsene Wenger blocked Campbell’s potential summer move to Benfica despite the player and the Portuguese giants both doing all they could to make the move go through.
And punters can understand why Campbell is gutted after having the opportunity to play first team football taken away from him, halting his development in the process.
That said, a positive note for Campbell is that Olivier Giroud is set to return from injury in the near future, meaning his comeback may make room for the youngster to depart the club.
