Arsenal star reveal squad wants this man in the team next season

Wojciech SzczesnyArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed an exciting week, with celebrations on their Champions League progression last week leading to lots of money being spent at the bar- keeping our landlord very happy.

They’ve gathered around the sofas to discussing an interesting story surrounding their club, as vice-captain Per Mertesacker is quoted by Metro as revealing the entire team wants Wojciech Szczesny to return next season.

The Polish international joined Serie A side Roma on-loan over the summer following the acquisition of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Despite being a controversial figure amongst fans and in the press, Mertesacker revealed he’s a valued member of the team and everybody wants him back for the next campaign.

‘Wojciech wants to compete. I think he’s a good goalkeeper and he can still develop. The team wants him back — that’s good for him. He’s shown great character already in this team and I think he has got a bright future.’

The 25-year-old is considered by many to be Arsenal’s long-term number one but for the next few years he’ll play second fiddle to Petr Cech, though our fans unanimously agree Szczesny is a better alternative to David Ospina.

Arsenal fans, is Szczesny good enough for your team? Let us know in the comments below!
