It’s set to be a big summer for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger, who signed a new deal at the Emirates earlier this week.
Some of the Gunners fans lining the bar here in the pub weren’t all that impressed with the new two-year deal that was offered to the Frenchman but a decision has been made and the club now needs to move forward together.
And there’s thought amongst the Gunners supporters here in the pub that the upcoming couple of weeks will be amongst some of the most important for Arsene Wenger as he looks to rebuild his relationship with the supporters.
And one man who the fans hope will be at the club when the new season does eventually start is Mesut Ozil, who has remained coy about his plans to leave the Emirates this summer.
But speaking to Arsenal.com, the former Real Madrid man has been speaking highly of former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, who will take to the field in the Champions League final this evening.
High praise indeed, but do Ozil’s reflections bring light on his plans to leave in the near future?
“His ambition, how hungry for success he is, as a player, you’re always quite similar,” he told Arsenal Player. “You want to be successful, you want to bring your best and what fascinated me about him was how professional he was. He’d be the first in the dressing room and the last to leave.
“He’s a grounded guy who is very ambitious, who always gives his best for himself and for the team. What I admired about him was how hungry for success he is.
“He’s not somebody who when he achieves something, thinks ‘OK I can stop now, or I can go easy’. It’s the opposite. He always wants to be more successful – he wants to defend titles and I admired that,” he added.
Arsenal fans- can you see Ozil staying at the club for years to come? Leave your thoughts down below!
