Metro have claimed that Arsenal full back Bacary Sagna will be staying at the club this summer despite previous rumours of a move pleasing Gunners fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The right back has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium for some time nowbut those fears to seem to have been quelled.
In a summer where manager Arsene Wenger promised to spend big yet has struggled to land any of his top targets so far, having seen the likes of Stevan Jovetic and potentially Gonzalo Higuain slip through his fingers, not to mention struggling in the chase for Luis Suarez, some good news has finally arrived.
Sagna noted: “I enjoy playing for Arsenal. I love my team, and I always give my best.
“I’m still here. Many people were talking about me going back to France but I’m still here and I’m looking forward to a big season with Arsenal.”
He also talked about the chances of a trophy next term and claimed: “Last season was difficult. I only had one year left and people were looking at that and maybe thinking I would leave. But I tried to stay as calm as I could.
“Now I will work hard in pre-season and have a good season for Arsenal. I believe that we can challenge for the title with a couple of good signings.
“We beat great teams last year, we managed to be one of the best teams in the second half of the season and if we can be consistent for the whole season, I believe we can be successful.”
