With the Gunners recording a North London derby victory in midweek, many fans thought the balance would swing to a negative result against Leicester City- which it seemed to, as Jamie Vardy scored an early goal to give the Foxes a lead.
However Arsenal, led by the talismanic Alexis Sanchez, scored a 5-2 victory; with the Chilean scoring his first goals of the season and finding the net for the first-time in over 14 hours of Premier League footballer.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Arsene Wenger revealed that his South American icon was suffering due to his lack of performance- with the goal-drought affecting his mentality.
“Alexis was down recently because he couldn’t score anymore, he’s not used to that. I think it took him a while to recover from the Copa America that they won so to come back to such a competitive edge, it takes a while.”
It’s surprising to see such a happy character actually suffering mentality, as Alexis seems like the sort of person who constantly has a smile on his face.
One thing is for sure, he left Gooners beaming after yesterday’s heroics.
Arsenal fans, is Alexis Sanchez the best player to wear your colours since Thierry Henry?
