Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are having a rough time of it and Metro have made it that little bit more interesting.
The publication have claimed that Bacary Sagna will be remaining in England this summer, despite being out of contract with Arsenal.
The Gunners and Arsene Wenger are keen to keep the long-serving defender, but as our punters have noted, the chances of Sagna remaining at the club seem to be ebbing away as time goes on.
The former Auxerre right back has refused to sign a contract with the club and is will not do so unless a huge sum of money is offered to him. Given Wenger and the Arsenal board’s reluctance to spend their money, that may well be a no go area.
Inter Milan were favourites to land the player, but given president Erick Thohir’s recent claims, we think there could be even worse news on the horizon for Arsenal.
“I think (Bacary) Sagna won’t arrive because he has decided to stay in the Premier League.”
Both Chelsea and Manchester City have been strongly linked with Sagna, and as one of our punters quips over a beer, City are not exactly strangers when it comes to poaching the best talents from the Gunners!
Do you think Sagna will snub an Italian adventure and seek a move to a Premier League rival? Let us know your thoughts below.
