Metro have a claim that has Arsenal fans sitting up and taking notice here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that one of the club’s key players has made it very clear he is willing to fight for his future at the club.
Thomas Vermaelen has claimed that he sees his future with the North London side, and despite being on the sidelines for most of the season, he wants to fight for that first team place and regular football week in, week out.
The Belgian defender noted: “It is not easy, but I try to stay positive.
“Firstly, I have been injured in the last couple of weeks, but when the boss needs me, I try to play well.
“I know anything can happen, so I am happy to play when he needs me.
“From my point of view, I hope it is as much as it can be. I work hard for the team and that is the only thing that I can do.”
He also spoke about the rumours of an exit from the Gunners, and after reading his response, our punters have a smile on their faces.
He claimed: “My focus is at Arsenal at the moment. There is still a lot to play for – I can’t do anything about rumours.”
Is TV5 set to remain at the Emirates Stadium for a long while yet? How important is it to keep the Belgian? Let us know your thoughts below.
