Arsenal supporters in The Football Transfer Tavern have been left satisfied with the latest news coming from the London Evening Standard.
The paper suggests that Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed he would like to stay at the Emirates Stadium for the rest of his professional career.
Szczesny recently signed a new long-term with Arsene Wenger’s side after firmly establishing himself as the first choice goalkeeper for the Gunners.
In recent weeks the tavern has been full of reports about possible competition for the Polish shot-stopper, with Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas potentially an option, but he admits he would be happy to fight for his place with any top-class keeper.
“If they give me a contract to the end of my career, I’d sign it without any hesitation,” Szczesny told Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy.
“I feel attached to the club and the coach who has given me a chance.
“There are not many who would do that but I must have been good. I see the future here.
“I’ll play at Arsenal as long as am wanted here. I am not afraid to fight for number one with anyone: Fabianski or Casillas.
“I hope I won’t make the boss think, ‘Wojciech’s not number one’. It’s all in my hands. I am in the best form of my life.”
Szczesny, who has now made over 100 Premier League starts for the Gunners, has enjoyed a solid season and we reckon that Wenger is right to keep faith in him.
