It’s been a while since we’ve seen Toby the Tipster in the Football Transfer Tavern.
However, our resident betting expert has popped in with news of the latest odds regarding a potential Premier League return for one of our favourites players.
Today’s Daily Star indicates that Arsenal are now favourites to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas ahead of Manchester United.
Interestingly enough, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has already tried to conclude speculation about a possible return to the Emirates Stadium for the midfielder but that hasn’t prevented bookmakers backing the North London club to be Fabregas’ next destination.
Paddy Power has put Arsenal as firm favourites to land the Spanish international at 5/6, way ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United at 3/1, and Champions League holders Bayern Munich who look unlikely at 16/1.
David Moyes had reportedly been strongly interested in signing the 24-year-old during the summer but he instead decided to remain at the Camp Nou so the former Everton boss had to raid his old club for Marouane Fellaini as an alternative.
However given Arsenal’s willingness to spend after the club record arrival of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, we are guessing that the bookies think that that will not be the end of Wenger’s spending despite their current overstocked riches in midfield
Do Arsenal even need Fabregas back given their current riches in midfield? Let us know your thoughts below.
