Arsenal still expect 28-year-old to be at the club next season

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are still feeling pretty good ahead of the new season…

A couple of big signings have really revitalised supporters, whilst Arsene Wenger has also been saying all the right things about Alexis Sanchez – with many fans confident that the Chilean will still be an Arsenal player next season.

However, despite that, media reports have insisted that his future remains uncertain, with France Football correspondent Nabil Djellit‏ even reporting on Twitter that PSG have made a move for the Chilean.

It seems likely that this saga will not truly go away until the window slams shut, and given that that remains a fair way off, Arsene Wenger has now seen fit to reiterate his stance.

According to the Telegraph, he has said: “My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I’ve made it clear a few times that this is my stance [he will stay at Arsenal]”.

Significantly, he has also added that the Chilean has not asked to leave the club, with the Telegraph also reporting that the Gunners are not expecting those circumstances to change.

Wenger appears adamant that Sanchez will stay, and that will surely serve to make fans more certain of his retention. Still, PSG’s interest appears concrete, and given the financial backing that the French giants have, it seems likely that this one will drag on.

The Arsenal fans, though, are adamant that Sanchez needs to stay. He was so important for the Gunners last season, and should he leave this summer, all of their progress will be brought back to square one – at least according to our landlord.
