The Arsenal fans enjoying a pint at the bar after their impressive first half of the season have been totally oblivious to the news that second choice goalkeeper David Ospina is interesting Everton, according to the Daily Mail.
The rumour being passed around by the slot machines suggests that Everton boss Roberto Martinez is looking to improve his goalkeeping options and with the Gunners fielding Petr Cech as their first choice, he may look to Ospina as a realistic option.
The Colombian international has only managed three appearances in all competitions this season and The Daily Mail claim that Ospina is frustrated by his lack of playing time at the London outfit.
However, Everton may face competition for his signature, with Besiktas also interested in securing the 27-year old’s signature.
The Turkish outfit’s vice-president, Ahmet Nur Cebi, recently revealed his side’s interest in signing Ospina.
“We are interested in Ospina. Him and goalkeepers of his calibre, but just because we want him does not mean he will come. We have to agree with his club and take his contract into consideration.”
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s recent comments that Ospina could be his side’s future number 1 goalkeeper suggests that the Frenchman is reluctant to sell Ospina this month as he requires backup for Cech, although it is believed that the Frenchman would be willing to review his player’s future at the club the end of the season.
Meanwhile The Mirror claim that Wojciech Szczęsny, currently on loan at Roma from the Gunners, will take Ospina’s place in the Arsenal squad next season should his Columbian counterpart depart the Emirates Stadium.
