Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were handed a great start to their day this morning, after they heard reports that their side is set to smash their transfer record for a phenomenal signing.
Corriere Dello Sport state the Gunners have submitted a sensational £51m bid for Alvaro Morata and are directly dealing with Real Madrid, with the Spaniards expected to activate a buy-back clause in the Juventus forward’s contract this summer.
23-year-old Morata has been in fine form for the Serie A champions this season having notched 11 goals and 10 assists but he’s widely expected to leave Italy this summer, with Madrid planning to sign the player back before selling him onto the highest bidder.
However, Juventus are desperate to keep Morata in Turin and may move for his signature without a clause if Real Madrid do activate their option or they could pay a large sum to have the clause removed from the Spaniard’s contract.
Our landlord believes Morata will want a new challenge though after vast success in Turin and believes he is the striker that can provide a breath of fresh air to Arsenal’s attack.
Arsenal fans, is Morata worth £51m? Let us know in the comments below!
