The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see how well their side is going to do this season…
The Gunners struggled last term, but with a couple of new signings and a trophy already under their belt, the coming campaign is sure to be better than the last.
On the opening day they will come up against Leicester City, and whilst the London-based side will go into the game as favourites, they will have to get a vital win without one of their most important players.
As confirmed by Sky Sports News, Alexis Sanchez is set to miss the game through injury – having suffered an abdominal strain in the lead-up to the game.

This will, of course, be a huge blow for Arsenal, as Sanchez is one of their most important players. The Chilean has been a star since moving to the Emirates, and last season he was often the only player that looked threatening.
Fortunately, the Gunners’ squad is full of talent, and the fine form of Alex Iwobi in pre-season should allow Arsene Wenger’s side to impress without the Chilean.
Alexis Sanchez is Arsenal’s best player, and so the game will undoubtedly be made more difficult by his absence.
With continued speculation over his future rife in the Transfer Tavern, and just a year left on his contract, his absence will no doubt worry fans, but our landlord thinks that they will still impress without him. After all, given that he only returned to training last week, he likely wouldn’t have started anyway.
As mentioned, Alex Iwobi has been in sparkling form, and so he will likely come in in place of the Chilean.
