Arsenal suffer setback in pursuit of highly-rated Brazilian – Report

Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side can challenge for the title next season, after failing to make it into the top four in the current campaign.

Indeed, the Gunners will be desperate to bring silverware to North London in this year’s Europa League competition, as this is the biggest chance they’ll get to secure Champions League football for next season. Although, it looks as if Arsenal have suffered a setback in their pursuit of a summer transfer target, as according to Calcio Mercato, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Bernard wants a move to Serie A.

Interestingly, it’s understood that the Gunners had been keen on the Brazilian, with his contract running out at the end of the season and his current form catching their eye.

Encouragingly, the attacking midfielder has provided four assists for his teammates and has 10 goals to his name, as Arsenal may have found Alexis Sanchez’s replacement.

However, Arsenal aren’t the only team interested in signing the 25-year-old, as Inter Milan, AC Milan, Liverpool and AS Roma are also in the hunt.

But, it doesn’t look as if the Gunners stand a chance, as it’s understood that Bernard is offering his services to some Serie A clubs who are now in talks to sign him as a free agent in the summer.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Bernard has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the whole of world football this season, but it looks as if Arsenal are set to miss out on the attacking midfielder in the summer. So, the search will go on for Alexis Sanchez’s replacement, as the Gunners will be desperate to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
